Winners revealed for 5th Annual Seiyuu Awards

The 5th Annual Seiyuu Awards (equivalent of an Academy Award for voice actors in Japan) were held on May 5th. Voice actress Toyosaki Aki, who plays the protagonist Hirasawa Yui on “K-On!” won the Best Actress award.

In 2010, the single she sang in her character’s name (“GO! GO! MANIAC“) reached #1 on the weekly Oricon singles chart and ignited a massive K-On! boom. She was also awarded a “Personality Award” for her work in hosting a radio program. This year, there was no winner for Best Actor.

Okay, so there’s something wrong with the date. Nevermind that. Back to the topic, wow Aki Toyosaki won again! I’m kind of curious why there hasn’t been any qualified voice actor for the Best VA in leading role award. Hmmmm…
