Higurashi no Naku Koro ni

(Last Updated On: November 2, 2016)

I’ve heard many things about this anime. Some loved the suspense. some didn’t like the murders and blood. Until an online friend of mine let me borrowed his copy of the series.

It took me a couple of episodes before I got used with the suspense and blood. If its a real-life suspense, I might end up discontinuing this. One reason would be, I raised my expectations for each episodes. I simply expected the worst. In that way, i wasn’t really shocked with what I’ve seen.

The series is intriguing and confusing at the same time. Questions like who is Oyashiro-sama, what happened to the victims who were demoned away, and such, kept on my mind the whole time. I’m grateful to all those spoilers around the internet and to siyata-san who provided me clarifications and others. Spoilers about Higurashi. It confused me because I’m trying to connect all the chapters in a single story line. I failed. 😀 The story will really made you think what happened and how did it happen. Thus, the story itself is a big mystery. It’s not as simple as the first episode seemed to be.

One downfall of this series would be too much violence. This is really isn’t for those who don’t like bloody scenes and killings. Plus the fact that those who are committing murders were minors. You won’t imagine what those who may seem young, innocent and cute characters can do. I swear, you wouldn’t want to get in their way. ^_^ But the story is not at all about the dark side of Himamizawa. There are also scenes where you can see the peaceful days at Himamizawa.

Before I forgot, the music really suits the atmosphere of the anime. It plays a big part in the introduction of the anime. You can feel the mystery even on the opening song. Personally, I really like it. You can also can get hint from the opening video. On the other hand, the ending song relates to the sad theme of the story.

To put it bluntly, it wasn’t able to boggle my mind that much. The anime didn’t give the intense feeling I am expecting while watching it (I’m not trying to compare this to Death Note and Code Geass but those two series really caught me with its twists and turns). Okay, you may blame me for reading spoilers ahead but I’ll tell you, spoilers never affected me in such a way that it will lessen the intensity of the story. It’s just giving me and overview of what will happen next.

So if you want mystery and can take gore, then watch this.

  1. I’m like you with spoilers. They never affect me. I can go into anything knowing what happens and still be surprised, it’s more about how the story unfolds and how the creators chose to do it that I like.

As for Higurashi it’s one of my favorite anime. Unlike you the blood and gore didn’t bother me it’s kind of what drew me too it. I wanted to see what other ways a character I’d grown to like might die. I guess I’m a little twisted, lol.

I would say stick with it if you can stand the violence and gore because it really is a great series. Nothing will really be explained until Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai, the second season, but sense you’ve already read spoilers you probably know about that. Again stick with it, it’s worth it.

Just one more thing, one of the reasons I liked Higurashi so much was how most of the stories started off nice and happy. Later though as the stories would progress it’d become darker.

    1. Did I sound like I disliked it? Sorry, I’m not disliking it nor favoring it. ^^”
I’m actually sticking with it. I’m currently watching Kai and I think I’m going to like it better than the first season.

      1. Higurashi is one of my most favourite Anime of all the mysteries it presents and all the headaches it gave me by joining all the pieces even though they fit, one thing’s for sure, Hanyuu is my God nihahaha

        1. That’s the exciting part of higurashi.. It will make you really think the connections of all the chapters..
