Synopsis:
From the back of the book:

If you were stuck on a deserted island and you could pick one person to keep you company, who would you choose?

For Yuichi, it would be anyone but his uncooperative, self-absorbed, good-for-nothing boss Imakura! But as fate would have it, the two are mistakenly left on a deserted island during an important research expedition. Yuichi would prefer to drown Imakura in the sea with his bare hands rather than listen to his constant complaining. But as the days fade into weeks, Yuichi finds himself craving Imakura’s company more than civilization itself.

Will the two find a forbidden love in this tropical paradise? Or will Yuichi and Imakura live out their lives stranded on a deserted island with the one person in the world they can’t stand?

Originally published as a short story, Don’t Worry Mama returns as a full-length novel with an all new bonus story, “Present.” Written by Narise Konohara, one of Japan’s best yaoi novelists, this story of “love on an island paradise” is sure to delight.

Being stranded in an island, Yuichi and Imakura have to make the most of what they have there including each other’s company. Imakura isn’t exactly the most lovable companion, one would dream of. He is grossly obese with an equally disgusting spoiled personality. Yuichi tries his hardest to keep up his goody two shoes persona…until he snaps and things get more interesting.

Honestly, I don’t really feel that they are in love with each other. While I sympathize with Yuichi and his initial feelings of anger towards Imakura, his attraction seems purely lust. Nevermind the weight and age, Imakura is the embodiment of Yuichi’s type. From there, the development is shallow. In contrast with Yuichi, Imakura is truly, madly, deeply in love with Yuichi. Which makes me pity him all the same for his ignorance.

The other half of the story called Present is enjoyable. Imakura is so pure that I want to cry. But he is too adorable, so much that Yuichi can’t get enough of him. However, there are times that it appears that his dependence on his mother just shifted to Yuichi. And that is because his lover sort of spoils him.

I adore Yuichi’s friend, Tomoharu. He is the owner of a gay bar Yuichi frequently visits before. He said the most awesome line in the book and now I think I found my fave character in this one.

Also in Present, I believe we meet the couple from The Man Who Doesn’t Take Off His Clothes. I’ll read that next! o/

I don’t recognize the art until I look at the cover and see ‘Yuki Shimizu’ there www. The art is simple. Imakura’s face is hidden at least until he becomes a bishie. To think I am excited to see a fat uke. But alas, he has to be the never-aging-pretty-boy uke.

Wrapping Up!
What can I say other than, it is okay? The idea of falling in love in your fat boss is certainly new to me but I hope he didn’t turn into an adorable uke. I would have wanted him to still be chubby though not excessively fat.
