33rd Annual Kodansha Manga Awards Announced

The Japanese publisher Kodansha has announced the results of its 33rd Annual Manga Awards on Tuesday.

Kodansha’s 100th Anniversary Special Award

Winners will be honored at a ceremony on June 22 at the Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka in Tokyo’s Chiyoda Ward. Each winner will receive a certificate, a bronze statue, and 1 million yen (about US$10,000). The seven-member judging committee included Miwa Ueda (Peach Girl), Junko Karube (Kimi no te ga Sasayaite iru), Shūichi Shigeno (Initial D), Daisuke Terasawa (Mister Ajikko), Nobuyuki Fukumoto (Akagi), Yukari Fukumoto, and George Morikawa (Hajime no Ippo). Shugo Chara!, Saikyō! Toritsu Aoizaka Kōkō Yakyūbu, Kimi ni Todoke, and Moyashimon won last year’s awards.
